Within my practice I work with a holistic and personal approach. This means that I combine different psychological techniques, based on your unique situation and that I approach your problem or issue from the 3 pillars Mind, Body & Soul.

How do we start?

We start with a free and non-binding introductory phone call where we can get to know each other and where you can ask me all your questions. If you feel you want to work with me, we will immediately schedule an intake. During the intake there is enough time and space to go deeper into your issue and to clarify your goals. Then I will start with making a treatment plan, including an estimate of the expected number of sessions. I will present this plan to you in the next session and when you agree with the treatment plan, we will start our trajectory together.

I like to work experientially, giving you exercises for everyday life. Lasting change takes place when you practice in daily life with the tools discussed and practiced in the sessions. My goal is that at the end of our trajectory you have the right tools to continue on your own.

During our trajectory I will combine techniques from the following evidence based forms of treatment and coaching: Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Positive Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, Schema therapy and EMDR. I also work with meditations, visualizations, breathing exercises and voice dialogue.

How do we work?

+ Mindfulness

+ Positive Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

+ Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

+ Schema therapy

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a form of psychological therapy that helps you learn to deal with difficult emotions, thoughts and situations in a healthier way. The goal of ACT is to help you live a meaningful and valuable life, even when faced with difficult emotions such as sadness and anxiety. Within ACT, you are encouraged to accept the things you have no control over and to take action to create a valuable and meaningful life.

+ Mindfulness

Positive Cognitive Behavioral Therapy does not focus on what is wrong in your life, but rather on what is going well and how you can further build on that. It is a goal-oriented, forward-looking and hopeful type of treatment. It lets you experience where your strengths lie and what is working in your life so that you can become more empowered.

- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Is a form of therapy that is used for processing drastic events and trauma. In EMDR treatment, I will help you reduce the emotional charge associated with an intense memory. You do not forget what happened, but the emotions and physical sensations you feel around it become less strong. We do this by having you remember the event while you are distracted with a visual stimulus (either manually or with an online program). An explanation for the efficacy of EMDR is that recalling an unpleasant memory combined with making eye movements causes the natural processing system to be stimulated.

Schema therapy helps you recognize and break patterns (we call schemas) that are developed in your childhood. They developed because your basic needs as a child were insufficiently met. During the sessions we examine the influence of your childhood experiences on your thinking and acting. You learn to recognize your patterns and to break through them. You will also develop insight into your emotional needs and feelings.

Mindfulness means being fully aware of your present experience, in the here and now and without judgement. In daily life, it can be difficult to be aware of all that you are experiencing. Often we do things on autopilot, without thinking deeply about them. Mindfulness helps you live more consciously and experience the present more intensely. Instead of getting caught up in your thoughts and emotions, you pay more attention to what you are experiencing in the present moment. This helps you to experience more peace, to concentrate better and to enjoy the present more.
